  • What’s the best Vitamin C supplement to buy?

Vitamin C protects our cell from the end-products of oxidative stress or facilitate our daily ‘house-keeping’ requirements. The administration of vitamin C may increase the survival rate in COVID-19 patients, by reducing the cytokine storm.

It is an essential micronutrient that the body cannot make and we need to obtain this from our diet or supplements. For those under stress or trying to clear an infection, dose-adjust to individual requirements, with the upper level intake at 1000-2000mg daily. Vitamin C is water-soluble so is easily cleared by the kidneys, so a dose to diarrhoea strategy may be beneficial.

Best dietary source: fresh vegetables and fruits like acerola, amla, berries, cauliflower, citrus fruits, and kiwifruit.

For prevention, supplement with 250mg mg three times daily and increase up to 500mg four times daily or dose to diarrhoea to prevent a cold or infection.

For vitamin C, I like the California Gold Nutrition  as it

  • Features USP Grade Vitamin C
  • is Produced in a 3rd Party Audited cGMP Registered (Certified) Facility
  • Affordable

If money is no object, I would recommend the Garden of Life, Vitamin Code, Raw Vitamin C.
It is made of whole food vitamin C including 23 organically grown fruits and veggies and do not have binders or fillers. You can also read my Top 3 Supplement guide by following this link.
