Welcome to the show, The Enlightened Pharmacist.
Today I have Catherine Saxelby, one of Australia’s most trusted award-winning nutritionists, author, blogger and “foodologist”
I first came across Catherine when I stumbled upon her book, Nutrition for Life.
Currently, Catherine heads the nutrition consultancy Foodwatch Pty Ltd that works with food corporations, supermarkets and government health programs. She runs an educational website at www.foodwatch.com.au where she shares her discoveries about nutrition and diets. Accredited Nutritionist (AN) and an Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD)
I’ve asked Catherine to help us unpack the topic of weight loss and the top 5 superfoods that we should be eating.
She practices Tai Chi and Pilates and has studied meditation under Western doctors as well as with Buddhist monks.
In this episode, you will discover:
- why diversity of food provides a broad spectrum of nutrients
- Cutting down foods (portion size) vs cutting out foods
- Unpack the different diets and decide the best diet (hint: think mindful eating, use the Hunger Food log below)
- 3 other ways to lose weight sustainably (eat mindfully, eat with a fork, not your hands, stop when you are full, overeat when you’re hungry)
- the downside of plant-based burgers
- 5 superfoods (eggs, sardines, green leafy veggies, blueberries, ginger)
